Add page numbers

Add page numbers to a PDF for reports, contracts or manuscripts. Choose where they sit on the page, what they say, and where counting starts.

How to use Add page numbers

  1. Choose the PDF you want to number.
  2. Pick a position, a style like “Page 1 of 10”, and a starting number.
  3. Optionally leave the first page (a cover) unnumbered.
  4. Select Add page numbers and download the file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip numbering the cover page?

Yes, check “Leave the first page unnumbered” and numbering starts from the second page instead.

Do the numbers land correctly on sideways pages?

Yes. Karatasi reads each page’s orientation and places the number the right way up, even on pages that are rotated 90° or 180°.

Can I start counting from a number other than 1?

Yes, set “Start at” to whatever number you want the first counted page to show.

Will this replace page numbers that are already in the PDF?

No, it draws new numbers on top of the page. If the PDF already has numbers printed in its content, you’ll see both.
